Dating and Mating in the World Today In the world around us the concept of dating and mating varies greatly from what God instructs us within His word. Many people have very skewed opinions of what is allowable and what is not. These variations can come in part for numerous reasons such as not being a Christian, the way a person is raised, as well as the influences around them. But God does not waiver on his stance on this subject. There is no gray area just simply black and white, right and wrong. First in regards to how God instructs us to behave He continually warns to avoid sinful acts which always included sexual immorality. Some verses that show these stances include Galatians 5:19-21 which says, “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. (NIV) Another verse showing this same warning lies in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 which instructs us by saying, “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins people commit are outside their bodies, but those who sin sexually sin against their own bodies. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (TNIV) These verses show that God explicitly warns against sexually immorality. When we have sexual sins it does not just affect the world around us but also that which is inside of us, our soul. Every time someone decides to make a bad choice sexually he/she is losing a piece of himself that was supposed to be given to their spouse.
