Belgrade and Novi Sad Two most beautiful cities in Serbia are Belgrade and Novi Sad. I have lived in both cities, and I can say that these towns are so different and so similar at the same time. When I was younger, I made a theory about these two cities: Belgrade and Novi Sad in Serbia are just like New York and Los Angeles in the USA. The first interesting similarity that is the easiest to see is related to geography. Avala is the mountain in Serbia located 16,5km south of Belgrade. Avala overlooks the Belgrade from the south. Near Novi Sad there is old massive mountain named Fruska Gora. So, Novi Sad is overlooked by Fruska Gora. Both cities are lie on the two “running waters”. Belgrade lies on the two rivers –Sava and Danube. Novi Sad lies on the Danube and Channel-Danube-Tisa- Danube. If you look at the cities you would see that Novi Sad is little Belgrade. Differences between the two cities could be best shown at their transport during the peak hours or holiday days. In Belgrade, during the peak hours, entering any public transport is possible only with help of one’s elbows, but in Novi Sad people wait patiently for their turn to get to public transport, without crowds and pushing. While Novi Sad is the tame city, Belgrade is wild. In Novi Sad, most developments are there in the center of city and usually transportation is not needed to get around the most interesting places. In Belgrade, conversely, there are plenty of places where various events are held. Night life in those cities is also so different-in Novi Sad people go from place to place and you can see lot of people in the center, but in Belgrade people usually stay at one place whole night.
