摘 要 纵观美国历史,妇女一直在争取平等的权利和自由。这种局势是由当时的男权主义社会所导致的。在19世纪的文学作品中,女性往往被刻画为受社会压迫、受男人制约、对男人顺从的形象。作为“美国女权主义文学创作的先驱之一”凯特·萧邦(Kate Chopin, 1851-1904)的名著《一小时的故事》b是女权主义文学的代表作品,在女权主义文学中有着重要地位。与此类似,美国女权主义代表作家夏洛特·帕金森·吉尔曼(Charlotte Perkins Gilman, 1860-1935)的经典著作《黄色壁纸》被视为美国女权主义文学重要的早期作品之一,其在女权主义文学中同样有着重要意义。这两部女权主义的经典作品皆表现了女性天赋与本性被父权社会的压制与摧残,在表现方式上有其相似与不同之处。通过对两部作品的人物和情节的比较,有助于我们更深刻的理解当时社会女性的处境。本文着眼于两部作品对女性形象的诠释,进而挖掘女性主义的意义。 关键词:《一小时的故事》;《黄色壁纸》;女权主义;比较 Abstract Women have been fought for the equal rights and freedom throughout the American history. This kind of situation is due to the patriarchal society at that time. In the literary works in 19th century, women were always portrayed as the images that oppressed in society, being controlled by men and obedient to men. Kate Chopin is one of the pioneers of American feminist literature. Her famous work “The Story of an Hour” is the representative of feminist literature. Similarly, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the representative writer of feminist literature, created the classic work “The Yellow Wallpaper” which is regarded as one of the important early period feminist works. It is also significant in feminist literature. Both of the works represent women’s talent and nature being oppressed and destroyed by the patriarchal society. They have both similarities and differences in expression. We can understand profoundly about the position and status of women at that time through comparing the characters and plots of the two works. This thesis focuses on the interpretation of women’s images in the two works in order to dig out the significance of feminism.
