A lot of young people would love to go on to university but the fees and the debt that they are left are a deterrent and so they dot want to go on to further education. The concern of fees means that some who have the potential and dream to achieve are not, because they don’t have the finances to do so. Young people also highlighted not feeling safe in their area and postcode wars as a huge concern. The rivalry between different areas means that if you’re from area A and go to area at risk of being in conflict. This means that leaving their area isn’t safe but then being in their area also doesn’t make them feel safe because of the rivalry between estates within the area, as well as the high levels of crime that take place.
(“Point: The High Cost of School Uniforms”). If all PA public schools require students to wear uniforms, then the schools would be taking away freedom of expression during the week. Students in school who are growing up and transitioning to an adult world need to know how to live their own lives and be themselves, because eventually they won’t have someone there with them, helping them through things in life. Being themselves also means being able to express themselves the way the wish to. School uniforms are not only items that cause a lack of freedom of expression but also a largely ineffective way to help solve the problems they were meant to.
If the government were to impose a community service requirement during these years, many young Americans would struggle to do well in school and work towards their dreams. By burdening our country's youth in this way, the government would be jeopardizing the successes of the future generation, thus harming and inconveniencing the people of the country rather than performing their intended job. What advocates of this new requirement fail to consider is that community service is more than just a means of getting things done. Besides supplying affordable housing and a large group
The Price of Education One thing that many people do not think about when choosing to acquire an education is the effect it may have on their relationships with friends and family. For some, there may be no change in the family dynamic, but others may feel the need to distance themselves from their families if they deem their family intellectually inferior or a hindrance to their goals of academic success. Richard Rodriguez took the approach that it was indeed necessary to isolate himself from his family in order to attain his educational goals. Bell hooks takes a completely opposite approach to her education. She feels it necessary to maintain a strong grasp of her roots and a strong relationship with her family.
I will never promise any young person anything I can’t deliver. These young people have been let down by society in many ways and so many now feel a lack of trust in any organization. Admittedly the scheme that I am part of is purely voluntary and so you would be right in thinking that engaging with these young people would be easy but far from it. But if we begin to force young people to engage with us as youth workers then we no longer become youth workers but social workers and that is not what I want the young people to think of me as. I always feel that unless you are learning something from young people then you’re not really working with them.
Murray believes that some people should not even go to college. People, in a sense, get pressured by either family or friends to go to college. In turn, some of these people should not be in college wasting space of someone who could potentially have taken their spot. Murray sees the liberal arts education as simply learning the basics of the work force. He shows that if you have not learned the typical basics in high school, you should not be trying to go to
With this frame of mind, they lack the motivation to do better and succeed. ), Collectivism (The w/c value being part of a group. This may hold them back as they will take the group’s decision on something, which may be to not attend school, not revise etc. ), Immediate gratification vs. deferred gratification (The w/c believe in IG where they want the reward straight away. This can affect their education as they will not want to stay on in further education, as they can get a job and make money straight away.
1.2 I feel personally working within a charity committee run pre - school their is a lack of budget to be able to get help to pay for courses or training opportunities. sometimes lack of resources i.e information available on opportunities and courses which we could be offered. Being short staffed can also put training opportunities on hold , having an increased number of younger children also makes our ratios tighter. Lack of supervisions and appraisals can lead to not knowing what staff want or areas they want to develop in. From experience my barriers have been my own confidence in my own role i feel this is lack of training/support within a new position.
Seems kind of pointless, most athletes don't go pro after college, so I why not get the full educational experience? Getting special treatment in school just because you’re an athlete is not fair. College is way to difficult for people to get special treatment just because of a person’s special talent. How about for students who are honor students? All their hard work doesn’t mean anything?
Learning Against Grades In this society, students are encouraged to pursue a higher education after graduating from high school. Yet, each individual has a different reason for desiring to move on to college. Students attend college either because they want to increase their knowledge, get a decent paying job after college, or they just want to get the “college” experience instead of going on to the working force after high school. As a first-year college student, I pictured college to be a “… place for learning and growth…” (Jerry Faber, 387), but I was slightly wrong. Everyday I stress over earning a good grade in my classes, instead of being driven to learn the material of the course.
