Community mobilization is a process through which a CBO uses to build capacity in their community members. Mobilization enables the community or individuals to organize, plan, execute and evaluate activities on a sustained and participatory basis to improve their current situation in every aspect. UMID uses the process of mobilization to bring both human and non-human resources together to undertake developmental activities in order to achieve sustainable development. The steps involved in the mobilization process adopted by UMID are very simple but effective. They tend to take up those issues that are notified by their very own community. This way they are successful in targeting that particular issue that is of great importance to the minorities under their consideration. Usually UMID organizes community meetings where the problems at hand are discussed and prioritized. In this very meeting the leadership of the CBO breaks the ice between them and the community members and specific team leaders are elected to head a set of problems regarding the community. Mobilization is initiated by having a one-on-one interactive meeting with their target minority. This happens after every fifteen days with feedback taken on every previous meeting. This way the community members get a chance to express their views and needs, thus getting empowered in the process as they develop trust and they are aware that they are being heard. Participants that is the community itself is involved, roles and responsibilities are distributed the designing and the planning of programs in response to problems discussed takes place. The checklists are then made according to the action plan that is designed during the planning sessions.
