Over the past decades Texas has had one of the lowest voter turnouts. According to Maxwell the reasons for such low voter turnout is because of laws, socioeconomic characteristics, political structure, and political culture. At the turn of the 19th century voter turnout was one of the lowest due to many laws and regulations placed on citizens that denied many people to vote. Many people including women, African Americans, and many immigrants were not allowed to vote. Voting early in the 19th century was considered more of luxury and only very few would get the chance to vote.
Pine Ridge reservation in Allen, SD, has the lowest in the country, at $1,539 per year. (U.S. Census Bureau) In 2010, the extreme poverty income for a family of four was about $11,000, or $2,750 a year per person. The rate of extreme poverty on the largest reservations averages four times the national average. In addition to high poverty rates, Native people suffer many other forms of hardship. Nearly 10 percent of all Native families are homeless.
Sometimes we tend to treat minorities like our children. We want to protect them and give them every opportunity but without them earning them or learning to fall and pick themselves backup sometimes, we are truly doing them more harm than good. My fiancé and mother's views are similar and different from mine. My fiancé's response to this question was: "Minority groups are the only ones who receive representation. The difference between me people in leaderships positions are salary, and their lack of brains."

Keeping an open mind in life will lead to personal growth. First, keeping an open mind will help you learn from your mistakes. Every single person will make mistakes, but it takes an open minded person to learn from them. If you learn from your mistakes, you will grow as a person. Second, keeping an open mind will help you participate and interact more in life.
The two themes that I will be writing about are the racial and poverty issues before and after Katrina. Poverty before Katrina in the state of Louisiana was still bad. Louisiana ranks second worst in our country in poverty. Once Katrina hit it just got worse. In the article written by Bob Faw from NBC News he states that many didn’t have any type of insurance, many could not leave the area because they were dependent on government checks, and many couldn’t even afford the basic transportation.
Outline and evaluate one psychological explanation of media influences on pro-social behaviour One psychological explanation of media influences on pro-social behaviour is parental mediation. Singer suggested that parents can enhance children’s understanding by watching pro-social programmes with their children and discussing the moral content and reinforcing the pro-social message. By adults explaining the message to their children it enables them to understand much easier and they can take it on board. Morals in pro-social programmes tend to be harder to understand than anti-social behaviour. Age is an important factor for understanding pro-social behaviour.
I have to be Terrific” (Cooney 15). The way people are perceived has a great impact on how humanity is defined. People have to comprehend and believe in the role that they play in society. Being content with the way a person is helps them live a better life. In the book, Among Friends, Caroline B. Cooney shows how self-perception affects a teenager’s life.
The problem now, is that people feel too much of themselves. Everyone wants to be independent and an individual but they have to see that one day they’re going to need assistance from someone else. We would rather criticize and attack instead of rationally discussing our differences of opinion. We see this every day in our culture. Our community as a whole loves to be argumentative.
I have always thought I was more likely to use my feelings to make decisions rather than what my head tells me – but this assessment says otherwise. I have always been known as an extrovert, so for the assessment report to state that I “tend to focus on the outer world of people and activity” – validates the thoughts I have about myself. I believe these Career Assessments were very informative. The list of most popular and least popular occupations for each type is, in my opinion, the most helpful information in the entire report. As I previously mentioned, I am not certain on what I want to do for a career so the fact that the report disclosed a few job families and occupations that suit my type the best, was very
