The person getting the help can be benefited in so many ways. Wether its helping someone one the streets become someone, or becoming part of a mission group and building shelters, volunteering can really affect someones life. People may sometimes not realize it, but when you are helping someone in need of assistance, it means so much to them that you would even take the time to help them out with whatever they need. The smallest things can mean so much to one person and can change them for the rest of their lives. People who are disabled or mentally ill may not realize as much as someone whom is ok, but deep in their hearts is a warm feeling that is saying thank you to the volunteer. So no matter what age, race, gender, or disability, volunteering can really have a lasting affect on someone. I believe volunteering helps the community as a whole as we are providing a vital service. Helping the community can be cleaning up, or even building. If a community is in need of service, no matter how big or small the need is, it has the same affect as it does with helping just one person; it changes their lives. If you help one elderly person cut their lawn every week, building a school in a third world country will have the same affect. Instead of just one person feeling thankful, you will be doing a whole group of people a favor. Volunteering is just another way of saying “I’m someone who will work for free to make a difference in your life. I believe there are both "internal" and "external" benefits. What I mean is that the internal benefits are what you feel. Hopefully you feel like you are making a difference, and you feel a sense of accomplishment. External benefits are what others see, the things you can place on a resume. Volunteering always looks good, it shows people that you care about the community and that you can be a dedicated person.
