Describe the duties and responsibilities of your own role (1.1.1) My duty as a care giver is to know that it is important to treat people with respect, regardless of their age, race, colour, religion, cultural back ground, disability, or sexual orientation by promoting equal opportunities, rights, choice, dignity and diversity. My responsibilities, basing in my nursing home, I have to create a happy, positive, stimulating and a multicultural environment in which all service users can be cared for safely. It is also important that they are catered for individualistically and appropriately depending on their needs. To ensure that their bedroom ensuites and belongings for example, clothes and equipment are maintained, clean and safe use. To understand and comply with the mandatory trainings, attend and take part in staff and other relevant meetings to improve knowledge and practice. I need to be able to communicate in a positive and constructive manner with my colleagues and the clients’ relations. In general, I should follow the legislation of the GSCC code of practise for support workers. My company’s policies and procedures are also built around these legislations and code of practice, which in turns defines my job description. 2.
