The management book with the title of “Communication and Group Decision-Making”, which was edited by Randy Y. Hirokawa and Marshall Scott Poole, was selected. This management book was chose because I am a shy and quiet guy; therefore I need to know more about the way to communicate with the others. Moreover, in the university life and working life as an engineer in the future, there will be a lot of group projects, so I need to learn how to communicate with the other group members as well as doing group decision-making. Furthermore, as an Asian, which mandarin is my first language, I need to know how to communicate with the other races effectively, so that they will not misunderstand the message that I have sent. At the most elementary level, communication can be considered as the medium of interaction between human being. Effective communication cannot be neglected because poor communication can seriously damage progress reaching targets and solving problems. The channel through which communication occurs are normally the five sense, which is seeing, hearing, touching, smelling and tasting (Danny Samson, 2001). The sender needs to choose the channel through which communication of channels that will most effectively convey and interpret the message. However, humans place a great deal of emphasis on the seeing and hearing channel in another words written communication and oral communication respectively. It can be seen that different sorts of written communication will produce different meanings and understanding. From this management book, it can be seen that communication has a close relationship with the group decision-making. Moreover, communication is also a channel that influences group decision processes and outcome as well as conflict process in a project group. Therefore communication is very essential and has to take care in a study and working area. There
