The The Introduction You’ve probably heard a lot of speeches just like the one I’m about to give to you. Those ones about how you need to live the best life you can, be with others you love, make money, be happy, etc. etc. They always seem to make their way into graduations. And you’ll hear four more tomorrow, for sure. But that does not make them any less important, so make sure you listen. This speech, in particular, goes out to all of you underclassmen. I’m going to impart to you guys some of my wisdom, some of the things that I have learned over the course of my 18 years of living. And I cried oh-so-very hard... Never before had I experienced the finality of death. The certainty of it all. And if anybody out there has lost a loved one as well, then I empathize, for I have lost two family members since then, my beloved cousin and great-grandfather. But through these devastating experiences, came a realization... an epiphany, if you will. That you only get one shot. And it is only one. No more, no less. One single chance is all you get. There is no reset button. You can not hit rewind on some remote and try again, take back things you’ve said, mistakes you’ve made. Everything you do, have done, or even will do...it all happens once, and never again will you be given the chance to go back. The same applies with high school. The Horns You’re only gonna be a freshman once, a sophomore once, a junior once...You only graduate once, and I am only gonna give this speech once. You only live once. So what do you do? You take life by the horns. You show this world what you’re made of, and you take every chance that you can. Being as young as you are, as protected from the real world as you are, you should do all that you can now, before you’re exposed to the endless goods and evils of the real world, of the work force, of the office, of taxes, of marriage, and oh god, of raising your own children.
