Advertising and Press Release Betty Dessecker COM/340 Gary Pethe February 5, 2013 Advertising and Press Release Many businesses and organizations have a public relations (PR) department. With the help of a public relations firm, organizations can keep their customers informed on how the business is operating and running. Public relations is not a form of advertising, and the main goal of a public relations firm is to reach out to as many people as possible and inform them about the products and services that they have to offer. The targeted audience for the Fresh Step cat litter advertisement includes a large variety of people. This would also include people that currently have cats as pets or want to get a cat as a pet. The age and gender range can vary as the audience. This advertisement reaches out to people of all ages. This target audience would also incorporate animal shelters, veterinarian offices, and cat shelters as well. These people work with cats on a daily basis, so they are like a part of their life. By using the cat as the main focus for the advertisement, it can reach out to children as well. I believe they did what they set out to do. They wanted to reach out to a large and diverse group, and make their add stand out. This, to me, is exactly what they did. This particular advertisement didn’t include any facts, stories or long reports. It was a simple and funny ad, and by doing this it helped the company from providing misleading information. Not everyone would approve of this. Some people want to see facts and figures when they see advertisements, they want to see just exactly what products and services are about. This ad didn’t make promises to the viewer that they couldn’t
