[pic] We live surrounded by colours! There are colours which appear warm, such as red and orange and colours which appear cool, such as blue and violet. All colours are the result of mixtures of primary colours, plus white and black which creates its brightness or darkness. colours play a vitally important role in the world in which we live. colours can sway thinking, change actions, and cause reactions. colours can irritate or soothe your eyes, colours can raise your blood pressure or suppress your appetite. When used in the right ways, colours can even save on energy consumption. [pic] As a powerful form of communication, colour is irreplaceable. Red means "stop" and green means "go." Traffic lights send this universal message. Likewise, the colours used for a product, web site, business card, or logo cause powerful reactions. [pic] What colour is yellow? |[pic] |[pic] | |Is yellow the colour of a lemon? |Is yellow the colour of a banana? | |[pic] |[pic] | |Is this fruit yellow? |Is this fruit yellow? | If you live in the United States, the colour of most school buses is not a pure yellow (like the colour of lemons). It's not the same colour as an orange either. The colour of a school bus is yellow-orange. This colour is a mixture of lemon yellow and orange ... like the colour of the fruit of a mango. So why do we still refer to a school bus as yellow? Back in the 1930’s in the U.S., school buses were pure yellow.
