I missed the third winter guard competition because I was out of town. Although I made everyone aware ahead of time, it still affected the guard. There were holes in the drill, but everyone performed, and pulled through with a second place. I am proud of what our group did, and how well they did, even though we were not together as a whole. It was a fantastic performance, and it made me proud to be a part of the Las Vegas High School Color Guard. I am a member of the color guard because I love it, and I have a passion for it. I love the adrenaline rush that I get right before we perform. It is the most amazing feeling in the world. It makes everything worth it. One of the only negatives about guard is how much free time it takes up. It gives me a lot less time to spend doing other things. It also constricts my mom’s schedule. But it is completely worth it. I plan on doing color guard all four years of high school, if I can. It will be a lot of work, but I am completely ready for that. I know that it will be a big time commitment, but what else do I have to do? Guard is worth it. I would not get as much as I do from guard, from anything else. No other sport has changed me the way that it has. The changes may not be noticeable to other people, but they are noticeable to me. My family really supports me doing guard. I am glad that I did, I would not have wanted to spend it with anyone else. Crazy drama, intense moments, we have gotten through it all, and I know that we can do it again. We have to, because this is our team, and this is our chance to shine, and no one else can do it for us. We have to be the champions that I know we are. We have to go out, give it our all, and bring hope the win. It is our challenge, our job, and it is a job that we are completely capable of being successful
