College At Last! Starting college later in life can be a rewarding experience. Going Back to college has given me a sence of achievement, Also has made me a better role model for my children, and also will bring better carrer opportunities within the near future. Going back to college has been a long term goal of mine and i'm very proud of my self for taking the initiative to reach my goal. Though, i know that with me being a full time employee and parent, college will be a little more complicated.
Having this belief during this point of the game really helps out a lot. Having this core belief helps a ton in future life. For example, it helps you get good grades so that you can get into a good college. As you go through school it just gets harder and harder and sometimes you just aren't smart enough to keep getting good grades but you can always try your hardest no matter what. Nobody can take away your level of effort.
This system, along with an intrinsic motivation to do well, has always encouraged me to do my best in school and do whatever I could to learn more and keep my grades high, resulting in me being a better student, learning more study skills, and getting higher grades than I might have otherwise. I have noticed, however, that the conditioning was more effective before college. Now that I am living away from my parents and do not know many of my professors personally, I do not have the immediate day-to-day rewards or punishments. The effects persisted strongly in my first few months of college, but then slowly declined. I still work hard and get good grades, but there is less of a motivation to study constantly and I often find myself not using my free time as efficiently as I would have at home.
I am very interested in starting a specific service project my junior year for CAS hours and this would be a great help to me with that. I think that I would be a valuable attendee to CASL because I am a freshman. Anything I learn can be used for all the rest of my four years of high school. I would also be a valuable attendee to the CASL conference because I would easily be able to make up the work that I miss on that Monday from school. I am also one of the older ones out of all my classmates so I would like to go to CASL so that I can learn to be a better leader to those who might look up to me.
Another reason students join CAB is for the planning of events. Most people I know get excited when planning huge, fun events. While planning these events, you may learn tips on how to plan and coordinate events for later in life. You also get a chance to meet famous artists such as Ludacris and The Fray during the week of Spring Fever, which is another reason why students join. Jarred Denzel stated, “I joined CAB because I was new transfer student and I wanted to make friends and I got on the executive board for CAB because they pay for your tuition and we have more responsibilities than the regular CAB
Another reason is because my cousin can show me the ropes, as a recent graduate from the school. So if I was to need help with anything she would know a lot more than I do so I wouldn't be lost like most freshmen are their freshman year at a new school. Then I had some friends that came along with me to college. Those coming along to college with me help me feel comfortable because I wouldn't have to be alone. Then another reason is we can all work together and help each other whenever it’s needed.
All in all, low cost tuition, ability to transfer, and career placement are the three main factors students benefit from the community colleges. Because of the low cost, students can take different classes to explore their major and boost theirs GPA. The opportunity of transferring credits to university is beneficial because many students want to continue their education to get master or doctorate degree.
