College Life Stress

We have all, at one time or another been victims of conflict or uncontrollable situations also, known as stressors. Although we all react different to situations or conflicts these situations can have a lot of power over our emotions and cause us to feel angry, frustrated, anxious, etc… Now more than ever, I tend to get a little stressed out about time, I mean who doesn’t. I go to practice, athletic events (team bonding), and class, do my homework and still need time for myself; Time is a huge stressor for me now a days. Sometimes I feel as if I lose sleep or as if I just don’t have enough time to accomplish what I need and want to get done in one day. Managing time can be really stressful for anyone as busy as the everyday college going student, especially if you’re on a scholarship. There are also many academic stressors that always come with college life. Trying to stay up late to study, getting up early for practice and class, trying to cram in all my homework, writing papers, and doing projects to maintain my grades can cause stress very quickly. In my case if I don’t keep my grades up I can lose my sports scholarship, so it puts that much more pressure on me to keep my GPA as high as I can. At times it seems impossible to find balance between school, friends, family, and relationships. These are just a few of the many areas of my life that demand so much of my time. It can be really difficult to keep a healthy state of mind when you are constantly pushing yourself to the limit without a break here and there. There are many solutions to help relieve stress in college students. Physical activity is a great way to relieve stress, simply getting out and going for a workout, a jog, or even just a run.
