I’ve always been an independent woman because I grew up raising myself. My mother was always out doing something and my dad was always working. On my father’s side, almost everyone is a “workaholic”, they all love to work and they also love making money. Usually when I am at home, I’m the only one who takes care of my little brother and sister because my dad is always working. My dad has always been the one to motivate me and push me to do well in school, but when I got into to high school things sort of changed. He stopped making sure I did my homework everyday and stopped asking me about school, he would always just wait for my report card to come in. I think he did that because he wanted me to learn how to be responsible to prepare for the real world. As soon as I turned 15 I got a job at my aunts business, my whole life changed when I got a job. I was going to school, going to work, and then coming home to do my homework. It was really stressful to me but I still pushed myself to get everything done, I didn’t want to end up not graduating high school. I wanted a job for two reasons, I wanted to be able to support my siblings, and myself, and I wanted to save up for a car. Getting a job was very important to me because now I have a car and I pay for my own phone bill, it made me even more self reliant and more confident because I thought I wouldn’t be able to keep up with
