February 13, 2011 College Essay The Future Is Near From the time I was able to understand English, the only thing I heard was the word “college”. I heard that word at home, going through elementary, middle, and high school. My parents wanted me to have a better future than what they are having now. What they want for me is to live a debt-free life, get married to a special person, and start a family. They don’t want me to be the average person living paycheck to paycheck. My parents doesn’t want me to be like them, paying back thousands of dollars in credit card bills. My dad only has an associate’s degree and my mom has a high school diploma. I was so used to hearing the same question every day, “What do you want to do with your life”. I never really paid attention to what they were questioning me until this past school year when I took the SATs for the first time. After taking the SATs, I decided I wanted to do something in the medical field because I wanted to help people with their health problems. Then one time I went to my doctor, I asked him a couple of questions about his job, what is the right path to take, which medical field would be best for me. They gave me some advice “You don’t become a doctor for the money, but to give up your time to help others that need it”. After taking everything into consideration, I decided to become a While attending, the academic classes were rigorous and very demanding.
