The main issue for and against the restriction of the sale of gin during the 18th century in England were economical issues, rather moral and health issues because the peoples nature to make profits. In 18th century England, there was numerous economics concerns against the restriction of the sale of gin, but there were also very few for the restriction of gin. Some would have a non bias view and both views on the restriction of gin. The graph portrays the change in Beer and Gin production in the 18th century, with the sale of beer steady in history while the sales of gin increased dramatically. (Doc.1) If gin were to be restricted, the sale, production, and profit of beer would greatly increase.
According to International Trafficking (2010), victims of human trafficking are traded inside of their own country's border as well as inside of the border of another country. Drug trafficking is another big issue, particularly around the United States borders. According to the New World Encyclopedia (2009), drug trades is a production of the black market. In some parts of the world, trading drugs is not enforced among all people. There is a large profit that can result from drug trafficking, which could be one of the reasons behind the crime not always being viewed under a zero tolerance policy.
This I know some magazines did. There is some things that don’t refer to my knowledge in this photo and that is why they are talking about prohibition now as everyone knew Capone was bootlegging alcohol and police were looking for him. This could mean that this source is unreliable. There are few other reasons that the source is unreliable. For instance, the purpose of the magazine may be unreliable.
The key drinks that this book was about were beer, wine, sprits, coffee, tea, and Coca-Cola. Beer was made in a place called Mesopotamia between 10,000 and 4,000 BCE. Beer was crucial in the arrangement of some cultures and economy, or people were paid in beer in return of work. The next drink is Wine; Wine was mostly used in religious ceremonies and for people higher in the social classes. Greece and Rome were to be the home of wine, where it was most popular.
However, to a large extend the figures in the two sources do show that prohibition was not successful. The public were producing more and more alcohol as a result of the restrictions placed on them. Prohibition went against the previously accepted way of life and restricting this only helped to push the production and drinking of alcohol underground. People became very clever at finding ways to obtain recipes for producing their own alcohol and the 25% increase in illegal stills seized by the government proves this. If the police were doing their job properly, the figures should be decreasing not increasing.
The higher alcohol content in hard liquor was more effective for getting drunk yet it also took its toll on the population’s health. Prohibition also created a large amount of bootleggers and moonshiners that were producing home made alcohol that was not always safe to drink. People also tried to get alcohol from sources that were still available and legitimate such as alcohol that was produced for medical, industrial and ceremonial purposes. People even attempted to get alcohol by trying to filter the alcohol out of antifreeze. Many of these homemade alcohols contained much higher percentages of alcohol and they sometimes were unsafe to drink which led to several deaths during the prohibition.
It is certain that some young adults may have already established brand loyalty to companies of some other alcoholic products. However, for some other young adults, certain brands or types of alcohol can be too strong, and some can be quite unaffordable or simply “boring”. As for its target market, the Cabana Boy Rums concentrates its efforts on those young adults who do not like the taste of those strong alcohols, those who do not wish to spend a lot of money on high-class alcohols, like champagnes and wines, and those who just like to try newly designed product and, perhaps, would like to be one of the stylish “Cabana Boys”. Although there is no specific secondary target market for the Cabana Boy Rums, its product can appeal to anyone in the market, such as those older adults who have had other companies’ products for long period and simply wish to try or even
Instead of an estimated decrease in violence, crime and alcohol consumption, it led to an increase in at least violence and crime. When people could not gain access to alcohol the way they were used to, they had to find an alternate source. This led to a huge black market for alcohol and the start for one of America's most infamous gangsters: Al Capone. The alcohol supplied was however no longer produced under legitimate supervision, and had often been spiked with poison and chemicals, which led to an increase in deaths from alcoholic poisoning. The huge black market for alcohol controlled by crime organizations grew so large that many of the criminal groups were able to build their empires mainly on profits from illegal alcohol.
Many people have admitted to have used the drug at any given time while some have been addicted to it already as it is readily available throughout Nevada. One thing about marijuana’s popularity is the drug’s ability to be used and experimented in many different ways. Once users get hooked to it, the addiction is very difficult to control. Unless there is an effective drug and alcohol rehab center, treating marijuana users will not produce great
The prohibition law was ineffective because of the many loopholes exploited by powerful businessmen and crime syndicates. For example, one of the most influential businessmen, Sam Bronfman, “managed to acquire a license for the purchase of pharmaceutical products, in particular, methylated spirits, which were usually used as a disinfectant.” In Bronfman’s hands the denatured alcohol was redistilled and resold as liquor, illegally. Not all forms of alcohol were illegal, providing non-prohibitionists with a way to feed their physiological wants and needs . People looking for liquor were still able, “to legally purchase alcoholic beverages with less than 2.5 percent alcohol content” . Access to low alcohol content beverages still provided those wanting a drink with legal alcohol, therefore circumventing the intent of the prohibition laws.
