Title: Coffee and it’s effects on your body Specific purpose: To inform my audience on the positive and negative effects of caffeine on your body Introduction: How many of you here consider yourself caffeine addicts? How much coffee do you drink a day? One cup? Two cups? More? How about affricated sodas? Personally need 4 cups of coffee to start day. Coffee is pervasive in society. Today I will talk about the beneficial effects, and the negative effects, and discuss what are considered safe levels of caffeine consumption Body: A. Beneficial Effects 1. Caffeine comes from leaves, seeds and fruits of over 64 different plant, well known as a stimulant 2. Help you wake up and feel more alert, and has been shown to increase attention spans 3. Also contains antioxidants, which have been shown to have cancer prevention qualities B. Negative effects 1. Largely dependent on how much you consume 2. Cause your heart rate to increase 3. Urinate more, which can lead to dehydration 4. Digestive system produces more acids 5. In larger amount, can cause headaches, feel resetless and nervous, be unable to sleep, and in very large quanities can cause hallucinations C. Tidbits 1. Effects of caffeine on self personally depend on a number of factors. A. weight, general health, mood and personal sensitivity to caffeine. Conclusion: You can see that caffeine can have both positive and negative effects on our health and well-being but the bottom line is that if you drink your coffee or sodas in moderation, you don’t have to worry too
