They have established a renowned reputation that encourages growth and stability in addition to embracing their loyal customers and supporting their causes globally. The Company History It all started with the inquisitiveness of one Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. John S. Pemberton. In 1886, Dr. Pemberton created a distinctive flavored syrup that when mixed with carbonated water became ‘soda.’ Frank M. Robinson, Dr. Pemberton’s partner and bookkeeper, has been credited for the name “Coca-Cola” and the trademark with its distinct script, which is still used today. Everyone that tried this new soda considered it “excellent.” (http://www.worldofcoca-cola.com/coca-colahistory.htm) Dr. Pemberton, however, died just two years after creating what we know today as “the world’s #1-selling sparkling beverage,” but prior to his death he “sold portions of his business to various parties.” Development One of the buyers, Joseph Biedenham, had a soda fountain shop in Mississippi and in the rear of that shop he installed a bottling machine that made him the first to ever put Coca-Cola in a bottle. It was not after, about five years, that bottling became large scale.
