Within the scientific community there is a great agreement that climate change is occurring. Whether climate change is being caused by the Earth’s natural cycles, anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, or the combination of the two is a big debate. I personally believe that the climate change is occurring with the combination of the two. Global climate change has already had huge affects on the earth. Glaciers have shrunk, ice on rivers and lakes are melting earlier, plants and trees are sprouting sooner. With these effects already intact, global climate change has shown loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more intense heat waves for time to come (Climate Change: Effects). [pic] As we all know, people can affect the change due to the use of cars, airplanes, factories and land fills. They pollute the earth we live in because transportation, being the largest single source of air pollution in the United States, causes over half of the carbon monoxide, over a third of the nitrogen oxides, and almost a quarter of the hydrocarbons in our atmosphere which was stated in 2006. With the number of vehicles on the road and number of miles traveled, we are on first in line for “dirty air” (Cars, Trucks, & Air Pollution). Some people are quick to blame humans; they believe that people use unnecessary amounts of gas that pollutes the Earth which is very true. One man who was a strong believer of this was Politian Al Gore. Gore invented the Alliance for Climate Protection, and has received a Nobel Peace Prize for his work in climate change activism. As you can see he is very educated in this field of study. Running for president he brought a strong case to prevent global warming but did not win his election. He noticed that high accounts of carbon dioxide has been produced which too much of, can hurt the world we live in. Carbon dioxide can
