One of the biggest disadvantages is not being able to make connections as easy as the copper. Fiber optic cables have a core as fine as a human hair, making it extremely difficult to splice. Copper cables are obviously not going to be around forever with the fiber optics being so futuristic, but they still have advantages over the fiber. Copper is very easy to work with. When making connections it is so much easier to splice the copper cable than it would be for the fiber.
This can lead to new styles of working, such as home working or direct access to corporate data while on customer sites. Wireless networks can be easier and cheaper to install, especially in listed buildings or where the landlord will not permit the installation of cables. The bad news is wireless transmission is more vulnerable to attack by unauthorized users, so particular attention has to be paid to security. You may suffer interference if others in the same building also use wireless technology or where other sources of radio signals are present. This could lead to poor communication or, in extreme cases, loss of wireless communication altogether.
The main issues with having only a 56K dial-up modem is the modem is not always on and with a broadband/T1 connection, there won’t be any down time when trying to communicate with another store. POS Components operate better on faster and more up to date equipment. The technology is outdated and to maximize work efforts the company needs a faster data transfer rate and up to date information. This can only be achieved with the proper network solution. A new WAN (Wide Area Network) will be replacing the current setup and each site will have a wireless LAN (Local Area Network) as well.
These three stores will need a cable or DSL set up so there internet is always on for better customer service, faster performance and faster response time or in another words a T1line which the speed will increase to 1.544 Mbps. Traffic analysis which is used for network detection and intrusions from outside sources, and is done by command lines tools which will provide information about the network latency. Nagios will be used to identify any
CLUB IT, PART 2 ANGELA MOSIER XBIS/219 NOVEMBER 18, 2012 INSTRUCTOR – CONCHITA GARNETT After investigating, I have identified three business problems in terms of its resources, supply chain and customers. While Club It’s customers are mostly Net generation and Millennial, whom regularly use mobile technologies, the dial-up internet service is slow and not effective. The service allows connection to the internet via telephone. While dial- up connections are a considerably less expensive alternative to high speed connections, they are very extremely slow. It may appear that Club IT is saving money by not paying for a higher speed connection, it is likely that the savings are not as significant as they may think.
The data signals travel around the look in one direction which passes through each computer. This allows the signal to be boosted each time it reaches a computer. This is also known as token passing from computer to computer. You don’t need a central server to manage the topology. It also handles the load better than a bus does.
What are the benefits to businesses (and others) of using information technology for doing work tasks? Administrative tasks can be completed quickly, efficiently and be produced to a professional high standard using the various templates that are available. Documents can be personalised to reflect a company image and to make the information easy to view. Information can be shared quickly between people and businesses. Documents can be altered quickly if needed without disrupting the rest of the document.
The higher priced Netgear Rangemax WNDR3700 Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router at $160 offers twice the bandwidth using Netgear's RangeMax technology. In making this wireless system as affordable as possible, they needed to deploy a wireless LAN that would allow them to use a single Access Point (AP) in each store. However, while information (and not credit card information) is the only data that would travel the wireless LAN, the company still needed to comply with the PCI requirements for WLANs, because the wireless network is attached to the LAN that did carry credit card
Streamline customer communications is a very efficient way of working because streamline customer communications deliver fast services, this is best way to keep customers satisfied and when customers’ are satisfied the business becomes more efficient because they are meeting needs and accumulating capital. Additionally, B&Q uses electronic communications to reduce staff costs as this plays a impacting role in the business s as it saves costs for them as the amount of staff needed are
Many people had the problem with slow transfer speed over wireless device. Some user did not realize that the wireless devices were giving them the speed of loading and transferring of data. They believe what they pay for that what they should get at a high price. User should know if he/she were in the IT business or operating any devices such as smart phone, tablet PC, laptop, and desktop computer. The speeds of an operating device were measure in kilobits, kilobytes, megabits, or megabytes per second.
