Rehabilitation Asley Cortes CJA/224 November 12, 2013 Janice E. Rachal Rehabilitation Today we will be discussing what rehabilitation is and when the rehabilitation process was established. We will also define parole and how it differs from mandatory release. In addition we will discuss and define probation and how it compares to other forms of sentencing. Furthermore, we will define community corrections and their options. And finally we will discuss and critique the current rehabilitation options: Is there a better solution for the parole process, for the probation system and the community corrections options? Rehabilitation is a treatment or treatments designed to facilitate the process of recovery from injury, illness, or disease to as normal a condition as possible. In a prison environment the goal of the prisoner's rehabilitation programs is to reform the prisoners from committing crimes and assisting them in…show more content…
The first reason is that if criminals that have served half of their time and are released upon parole or probation and that decreases the facility population. The second reason is that it would reintegrate a rehabilitated person into society and we can see their future behavior if they fail to follow the rules and procedures then they would be put back into prison. The third reason it gives the individual an opportunity to realize what they did and have missed through time. In the community corrections they also have come up with great options for those that have committed minor crimes. These programs help individuals change their mind set for future improvements through the use of work programs. In addition these programs benefit the community and the offender by allowing them to work in exchange for time off their sentence or monetary payment, allowing the community to utilize their labor to improve or maintain the community
