The movie Glory is about the 54th Massachusetts regiment, which was the one of the first all black solider regiment. This movie took place during the Civil War. The Civil War was one of the bloodiest wars in all of American history. There were many people who were unsure whether an all black regiment would be any good. The 54th Massachusetts regiment proved to the union that an all black regiment could be as good as any other regiment. There were many different characters in the movie that went through significant changes to their beliefs and their character. The movie Glory is one of the most accurate Civil War movies ever made. There are several scenes in the movie that can accurately illustrate the Civil War and the importance of the 54th Massachusetts regiment. In the movie Glory there are many important characters, one such character was Col. Shaw. Col. Robert Shaw is played by Mathew Broderick. Col. Shaw was the leader of the 54th Massachusetts regiment, which was one of the first all black volunteer regiment. Glory has many scenes from it that can illustrate the events that occurred during the Civil War and the importance of the 54th Massachusetts regiment. For example the medical tent scene was a good example of what it was really like to be wounded in the Civil War. The scene where they rip their pay checks shows how there were still prejudice in the north. They felt that the black soldiers weren’t as good as the white solders. In the final scenes when they attack the fort they fight just as bravely as any white solder would. The 54th Massachusetts regiment shows the Union that they are good fighters and are brave as well.
