FREE-WRITING ASSIGNMENT: “Citizen Ben” To me it seems that Benjamin Franklin was a very well liked man. He seemed to always have his head on his shoulders even when he clearly didn’t. Whether it had to do with inventing things, writing, or politics he knew what he was talking about. Honestly, without Benjamin Franklin I think it’s safe to say that we would not be the country that we are today. I thought it was comical how the said that they could imagine sitting down drinking a beer with him and showing him how to use a palm pilot. Number 6. I chose this one because no matter where you go in life you will always have to compromise some aspect of your life. Whether it deals with home life, or your job, especially your children and family, you will have to meet in the middle with the majority of subjects. I learned a lot about compromising when I was growing up because my mom would never take sides. And having three other siblings, someone was always upset. I really like the quote in this passage that says “What a broad table is to be made, and the edges of planks do not fit, the artist takes a little from both, and makes a good joint. In like manner here, both sides must part with some of their demands.” If everyone in this country took this quote and applied it to nearly everything they do, we would have a lot less problems in the world today. It says that compromise is not only a practical approach but a moral one also, and I do not believe it could be stated any better. So many people today always want it their way, even if it is morally wrong, but if they met in the middle it would help with some of that. Compromise can deal with a lot in life and if people just took a step back they would realize
