In this very populated world we inhabit there are different people carrying their personal beliefs and stances on particular issues. With so many opinions coming from everywhere it is hard for everyone to be at peace with one another and figure out who is right or wrong because one can feel very strongly about the topic at hand and want things to go their way. Very often there are those people who will not be silenced and argue their point of view until they win, while there are others who just do not feel as strongly as others on topics so they do not argue and just go with the flow. Not only did he bring the issue up, but also he announced numerous ways to make a change that should work if everyone really applied the techniques to their writing. He is a teacher, but he is talking about this topic from a different point of view as a director of a writing program. It all makes sense if everybody knows that. Think about it. If he has a job that calls for him to improve writers’ techniques then he is doing just that with this argument and convincing proposal. He used the very strategies he described in his essay to write this essay, and it worked. His essay made me think of something I never thought of about argumentative writing and considering other’s point of views, reject the claim that the five paragraph (hamburger) essays were not intellectual, and raise questions about how change will come. He must be right because the techniques of having a counterargument, raising questions, and logically persuading a solution was used on his own audience had the very affect he said they would. Every component he believed that should be included in argumentative writing was included in this very essay about it. Since he used his own ideas on his audience, Frank Cioffi’s essay demonstrated his argument of improving academic writing
