Richard Rodriguez’s passage reveals his attitude towards his family and himself. He uses figurative language to describe his Christmas. He uses selection of detail and tone to express his view. While growing, the living conditions were poor, yet his mother never doubted that her children would become successful and wealthy. Rodriguez remembers hearing her predict the future and the presents they would one day purchase for their old parents.
The weather may be cold and gloomy but the spirit of the people during Christmas overcomes the climate with their cheerfulness and their bright happy hearts! 5. During the era of dickens’ day, Christmas had a deeper meaning; people coming together despite their poor ways of living and uniting as a community and family to celebrate in their best clothes
Dickens also writes how Scrooge treated his Nephew Fred, badly, his nephew and only living relative is a very cheerful man who loves Christmas. He wishes his Uncle a Merry Christmas Scrooge replies ‘bah humbug’. "Why did you get married?" said Scrooge. "Because I fell in love."
Although, many songs they play are religious based on the Catholic ways. They also play Hispanic types of music that is generally used with the flutes, drums, and rattles. Guitars, drums and flutes are popular instruments they use to entertain with their family and friends. Most of the homes owned by Catholics are decorated with a Christmas tree hung with elegant decorations like candy canes or crystal balls. For me, Hubbing is very therapeutic and gives me something to do. I hate when you find a neat project or picture on Pinterest and click it to find out it's just a bogus/fake post with no description or instructions! Ugh! While I started Hubbing before I became obsessed with Pinterest, I kept Hubbing and sort of found my crafting and cooking niche because I was happy to share with anyone who was interested. A Christmas movie serves as a soundtrack while the tree is twinkling and sparkling in the background.

"The History of Christmas" is the story of the origin of Santa Claus and his impact on the world today. St. Nicholas was a wealthy Christian priest and later bishop, who traveled the country helping people, giving gifts of money and other presents. His gifts were given late at night, so that the gift giver's identity would remain a secret. The Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, and his drawing was used in the first Santa ads for the Coca-Cola Company's Christmas advertising in the 1920s. However, as the years progressed, the Santa advertisement had numerous images by many different artists, including Clement C. Moore's traditional St. Nicholas.
It was very hard for me to understand (at the time) how such a loving God would allow such an amazing, loving, compassionate, and authentic man of God to get so sick and in the end go to heaven at the age of 45. In fact, it took me quite a few years to actually understand that it wasn't done to my family, it happened for God's greater good and kingdom purpose. My Dad never lost his faith. He always gave Thanks and Praise to God for blessing him with his family, the ability to love, and the freedom to learn about Christ's character. Today, I can look back with peace and understand all the pain and hurt was worth it, because now I walk and seek the same passionate relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
St. Francis has influence the artwork of Giotto, the best-known naturalistic painter of his period. Many times Francis celebrated the action of divine grace in his life, which is the essential and beautiful of true sacrament. He feared that the pursuit of any sort of wealth would divert one from fulfilling the gospels ("Christmas Crib"). In the miracle of the crib at Greccio shows a mass celebrated the remembering of the birth of the Savior. Francis seems to be preaching at this Mass and his words were loving.
The term “if I should die” was probably a used phrase when the soldiers were writing letters to their loved ones. This poem captures the attitudes of the time of much patriotism. The men were willing to sacrifice themselves for England and dying with happy hearts. The beginning of the war was not as volatile so the view on the war was very calm and collective. The enthusiasm of winning the war and the confidence that it would be over by Christmas was very high.
