Running header: Lifestyles 1 Lifestyle Decisions Jessica Leigh Cox 12/14/2014 Unit 2 Assignment Prof: Tyra HallPogar Kaplan University Lifestyles 2 Introduction A physician’s assistant is set to meet with Mr. Brown (a patient) who is a 56 year old male that leads an inactive lifestyle. Mr. Brown has confessed he often sits on the couch in front of the television while eating. He (Mr. Brown) has admitted it’s his favorite thing to do. He has made it clear that he is not looking to change his habits. She (physician’s assistant) is going to explain to him what the test results show from his cholesterol panel today. Test Results Your cholesterol panel shows all 4 cholesterol counts. First is triglycerides which are types of fat that are carried thru your blood and stored in fat throughout your body. They come from the calories that you intake from foods you eat. The second is cholesterol which is a fat-like substance that is found in all the cells in your body. Your liver produces most of the cholesterol it needs to make hormones, vitamin d, and material that helps digest food. The third is HDL (high density lipoprotein) which is known as “good cholesterol”. HDL helps remove LDL from your blood and withholds it from building up in your arteries. The fourth and final cholesterol count is LDL. LDL (low density lipoprotein) is known as “bad cholesterol”. LDL develops on the walls of your arteries and increases your chance of heart disease. Your results of triglyceride levels are reading 145mg. Your levels are great as long as your triglyceride level stays
