Group Project Contract for Reach for the Apple

  I.   Introduction
The Reach for the Apple team concluded after the research was done, that the parents lack the knowledge on basic nutrition for their children.   The research showed that parents are busy with their lives, and lack the time to prepare nutritious snacks and meals.   Our goal is to educate parents and teach them how to make food that not only appeals to the children, nevertheless is also nutritious for their children.
The community, the project is focused on are the parents and children who attend COA Youth & Family Center in the Riverwest area of Milwaukee, WI.   The population serviced will be children from ages three to six years old; this age group will assist their parents, and the team to plant a garden in the Community Victory Garden.   Ultimately the group that will be targeted are the parents, due to their lack of education on nutrition and food preparation.
The strategy the project will utilize is to show parents how to grow their own food by the garden that the project will plant.   The project will educate the parents on nutrition, and how to prepare the vegetables that are harvested from the garden to appeal to their children.   The project made a decision to use COA Youth & Family Center, as they have the resources; children, parents, garden, and the facility as well as their willingness to work with the project.
