• Anti-social behaviour – can have the potential to become excluded from school or become a looked after child. • Health status of self or family member –physical illness may lead to emotional problems or disturbed behaviour. • Disability – children with disabilities may find it hard to access play/leisure activities. • Parents or carers – children or young person who have role-reversal where they are looking after the parent, may feel like they have less opportunities. • Health support – those who need health support most often are least likely to use services provided.
Though this may not be directly connected to middle school students it will still have an impact to them in life. Homework also creates stress. Stress from working too long, stress from anxiously hoping to get a good grade. WORD COUNT: 294 TOTAL: 294 It is estimated that 75% of student visits to the doctor are partly stress related. Thus pupils are not going to do as well as they could as a result of the sickness from the stress of their
It is highly important for children to grow up in homes where they are properly nourished and are taken care of mentally and physically. Every aspect of a child’s life can either affect him or her positively or negatively, depending on the situation. During adolescence, kids have a difficult time trying to fit in at school and at the same time are trying to find themselves and who they want to grow up to be. This stage of life can be a very stressful time
Thesis It is shown that children who grow up in poverty compared to those in better financially stable homes are less likely to succeed throughout their educational careers. Our nation has proposed a solution to this problem. The Head Start and Early Head Start program, these programs will help those young children growing up in poverty who need the educational help. Early educational outreach programs that provide the finest quality education and care have the potential to close the gap between deprived and middle-class children. Poverty not only has an effect on the children but teaching them also.
The psychological stress of social stigmatization can cause low self-esteem. Along with that, physical fitness is linked with higher academic achievement ("Lets move!"). Even moderate under nutrition can have lasting effects on children's cognitive development and school performance. Chronically undernourished children attain lower scores on standardized achievement tests, especially tests of language ability ("Guidelines for school," 2001). When children are hungry or undernourished, they have difficulty resisting infection and therefore are more likely than other children to become sick, to miss school, and to fall behind in class; they are irritable and have difficulty concentrating, which can interfere with learning; and they have low energy, which can limit their physical activity ("Guidelines for school," 2001).
The childcare environment did however negatively affect the behavior of the children. The ratio of teachers to children and the amount of time a child spent in out of home care also had an effect on the behaviors of the children Introduction Outside the home child care is common. In many households both parents work to provide for the family. As more and more parents enter the workforce to make ends meet, the number of children entering into regular childcare has dramatically increased (Belsky et al., 2006). During the day, children who are under the age of 5 are not old enough to be part of the school environment.
Although family members have primary responsibility for the health and wellbeing of children, the community, businesses and the broader environment in which children live are also influential. Development in young children is influenced by experiences related to the child’s ecological environment, such as their relationships with primary educarers. Social, cultural and socioeconomic influences are also influenced by early relationships. (Bronfenbrenner, 1979; Owen, Ware & Barefoot, 2000) This theory explores intricate relationships within and outside of the early childhood setting. The microsystem identifies the role of the parents as being the main influence in the life of a young child.
Another school factor that can be viewed is social issues. Without social skills, they lack the ability to (1) build social supports and friendships, (2) contribute to peer acceptance and to satisfactory school adjustment, and (3) allow individual to cope and adapt effectively with the larger social environment (Walker, 1995). Social skills teach the ability to (1) build social supports and friendships, (2) respond appropriately to the demands of adults and peers, and (3) adapt to changes in social circumstances. Children suffering from emotional or behavioral disorders have problems in all three areas of social competence (Kauffman, 2001). Because of
Intervention In Early Childhood Education Studies have shown intervention in early childhood may be crucial for the development of a child. According to Siraj- Blatchford, it is believed that children who have access to early childhood care and education may fare better in their future development. Government bodies advocate for intervention in early childhood as they believe that children from poor background may have equal chance to move out of the poverty cycle through education. However, it may be challenging to provide quality early childhood care and education to combat poverty. The relevance of early childhood models, social and cultural context, co-ordination within families, communities and government bodies play an important role in developing appropriate intervention programme to help children in poverty reach their full potential in mental and social development (Siraj-Blatchford).
The nanny’s job is to take care of the employers’ children while they are busy with their work. However, the amount of time that the children spend with the nannies can affect their behavior and emotions. In some cases, kids will grow an attachment to them, and most of the results are bad. The nannie could quit or get fired and she has to leave, therefore the child will get upset and misbehave so that the parents comes back. Childhood is a time for a kid to learn and understand the world.
