2.1 Describe with examples the kinds of influences that affect children and young people’s development including, Background, Health and Environment. There are many factors that can affect and influence the good development of children and adolescents as the background, health and environment. . Background- It is important to know the characteristics of the family about the child's development such as, warmth, equal affection between parents and children, establishing a proper relationship with parents/ child. For example the background of a child affects the child in many ways. Most children from broken or unstable family background with a lack of parental guidance, can lack self-esteem, may be withdrawn from their studies and have the tendency to be aggressive at school. Whereas children from stable family with both parents and parental guidance, would have confidence, there more likely to be attentive in class and emotionally stable. . Health It is important that a child has a healthy diet, a good sleeping pattern and lots of routine in their life to help them engage in physical activities. For example if a child doesn’t sleep well or have a healthy diet their development will suffer as they will have poor concentration due to being tired all the time and not having the essential nutrients in their bodies. Their behaviour will change and will have a negative impact on their school work. . Environment Children are usually the product of the environment they grew up in. For example if a child lives in a poor and deprived environment this affects the child behaviour, Statistics show that children who are from deprived background are less likely to thrive and achieve 2.2 Describe with examples the importance of recognising and responding to concerns about children and young people’s development.
