Task 1- 1.1 Describe what does it mean by positive environment: A positive environment is when you feel welcomed wanted in a particular place. For example if a child has recently moved to the country and English is not their first language, they may miss home, friends and more common traditions in their country. An easy way to make someone to feel welcomed would be to put up displays of countries and religious events. Multi-lingual sources would also encourage people to want to come back to the nursery. Keeping the state of the nursery clean and safe would also benefit you as people would rather send their child somewhere hygienic and looked after. 2.1 Identify regulatory requirements that underpin a positive environment for children and young people: Every child matters Stay safe- People would have to buzz to get in. All gates locked. Metal fencing as wood is more prone to breaking and children could get splinters. Grounds of the nursery being checked daily. Healthy eating- Packed lunch or school meals with some fruit. Display boards with fruit. Games that explain balanced diet. Books about people being really healthy and what they eat to be healthy. Enjoy & achieve- Toys that are age appropriate. Nice and clean environment. Welcoming staff and understanding. Achieve economic wellbeing- Teach them to be independent. Feed them healthy foods. Include them in sports activities. Make positive contribution- Help people and show a positive attitude. Understand how to be tolerant to people with certain religious beliefs. Study ways to talk to children with disabilities. Health and safety at work act 1974 Control of substances can be hazardous to health (COSHH) regulations 2002.
