Families, along with their children, are the program” (Menza-Gonzalez, 2009). Educators who understand child development in perspective to family and community rely on competency to organize an early childhood program which incorporates effective developmentally approved practices which incorporate family and community into the “whole child” approach. “School readiness is, of course, a concern for everybody, but professionals with a child development back-ground often come at it from a different angle than some other professionals and families by recognizing that social-emotional development is vitally tied to cognitive development” (Menza-Gonzalez, 2009). Socially, a child learns to relate to family, peers, teachers and other members of the community through a range of human emotions, interactions, and transitions over the years of development. Emotionally, children
Standard 1:Understand the principles and values essential for fostering children and young people 1.Principles and Values 1a) What principles and values do you think are important in caring for children? Principles • The welfare of the child is paramount. • Foster carers contribute to children’s care, learning, development and safeguarding. This is reflected in every aspect of practice and service provision. • Foster carers support parents and families who are partners in the care, learning, development and safeguarding of their children, recognising they are the child or young person’s first, and in most situations, their most enduring carers and educators.
Values are what you want and need to achieve the goals you set for yourself and your family. Values can be obtained in many different ways. The most important piece for building values is your family. I am responsible as a mother for teaching my children what is right or wrong before, any other influence reaches them. I can only wish that what I have already instilled in my two children is a reflection of myself as a parent.
They should try to help there kids reach there goals and make there future bright. Critical Thinking Questions 1. Being a good parent is just to be understanding in every situation that your child may or may not be getting into. They have to have the love and support for each child that they are raising. Just to always love the child to the fullest and make them feel like they are somebody in this world.
Using Operant Conditioning in Raising Small Children Raising children is a tough responsibility. A parent’s main goal is to keep their child healthy, safe and to make them productive members of society. To prepare your child for adulthood, they will have to learn how to behave as you feel is appropriate in today’s society. Each parent has their own way of trying to accomplish this goal. A majority of the time they attempt to reach their goal by using different methods of operant conditioning based on their own style.
Visiting a Early childcare and education center showed me there's a lot more than just babysitting or watching kids. when you enter into the Early child care and Education field you are educating, supporting, being responsible for children and loving them like they are your own. Learning about the importance of knowing as much about every childs family and community around them is a great way to become and have a great daycare. Because young childrenís lives are so embedded in their families and communities, and because research indicates that successful early childhood education depends upon partnerships with families and communities, early childhood professionals need to thoroughly understand and apply their knowledge in this area. Good relationships, clear communication and common goals between parents and practitioners are crucial to the successful delivery of an effective service. Every major legislative or policy document contains reference to ‘partnership’ and the importance of ensuring that parents are informed about and involved in strategies and approaches to the care and education of their child. Partnership with parents is based on the belief that good working relationship, clear and mutual communication and common goals between parents and professionals are crucial to the successful delivery of effective services to children. MacLeod-Brudnell (2004, p.412). Partnership with parents should be a key aspect of provision.
EYMP 1 Task 2 3.1 As a trainee practitioner i need to show the knowledge and understanding of how partnership with parents is important to the success of each individual child in the setting. Promoting an effective bond between the parents and professionals, this provides a source of strength throughout their time in the setting. Consequently practitioners should be very aware that there leading role is very different in the Childs life, compared to their own parents, carers etc. Practitioners roll is to be able to show a more compassionate bond with the child. Leading on Carolyn Meggitt also believed that “Practitioners need to develop constant, warm and affectionate relationships with children, especially babies, but should not seek to
Reflection Karla Sambora North Central University Dr. Shatavia Thomas MFT 5101 My ultimate career goal is to work as a marriage and family therapist, with a focus on working with children aged three to 18, along with their parents. To me, helping children to grow up in a healthy and nurturing environment has often been a key concern for me. Since their future development as adults is affected by what happens to them in their early years, children need to receive timely intervention in order to prevent them from succumbing to the negative influences in their lives. As a marriage and family therapist, I would play an important role in contributing to the positive development of young children in crisis and transforming their lives. Usually I am a person who completes tasks in a timely fashion.
ECM is important as it protects children from discrimination and harm. The CASHE Statement of Values insures that all CASHE students act in a responsible manner towards the children and parents and insures that the child is always put first. The statement supports children as it has a list of criteria that all CASHE students must follow in order to maintain confidentiality and protect children in their care. This relates to my placement as is provides my supervisors with guidelines that they can make sure I follow. The statement is important because it protects children form mistreatment from CASHE students.
