According to our text corporal punishment is the gratuitous intentional inflectional of pain on children’s bodies for the purpose of modifying behavior. When a child is being discipline it does not always have to be physical. Sometimes all it takes is for you to say their name, or speak firm to them. Some children have a history of being spanked for no reason so when they get out of the situation and get into a better one all it takes is for them to hear you raise your voice and they know. I also believe that taking things away from them is a great way of showing them that they must do what they are told.
Jenkins, on the other hand, says that Grossman's view only works if "we remove training and education from a meaningful cultural context, we assume learners have no conscious goals and that they show no resistance to what they are being taught, and we assume that they unwittingly apply what they learn in a fantasy environment to real world spaces." He also says that children are not desensitized by video games and understand the difference between realworld and play. "Play allows kids to express feelings and impulses that have to be carefully held in check in their realworld interactions." Jenkins makes some pretty valid points, and I agree with his argument more than Grossman's. I agree with Jenkins when he says children learn the difference between real shootings and video game death.

If the child is punished the correct way, it will not cause the child to turn to violence. Spanking is a very effective tool when used properly. There are specific ways in which to spank children. First of all, the parent should establish boundaries. When the child breaks these boundaries, he or she should be punished.
There are two types of timeouts exclusionary timeout consist of removing an individual briefly from a reinforcing situation immediately following behavior. The child hit another child will toy so he was sent to his room. Nonexclusionary timeout is consisting of introducing into the situation, immediately following a behavior, a stimulus associated with less reinforcement. Sexual abuse 4. Neglect Bullying is not defined as a form of abuse in Working Together but there is clear evidence that it is abusive and will include at least one, if not two, three or all four, of the defined categories of abuse. Recognising child abuse is not easy. It is not our responsibility to decide whether or not child abuse has taken place or if a child is at significant risk of harm from someone. We do however, have both a responsibility and duty, as set out in your organisation’s child protection procedures, to act in order that the appropriate agencies can investigate and take any necessary action to protect a child.
Children are now protected by the Law. Physical punishment is not an option, but an offence. It is justified just when the children are in danger of harming themselves or others. If self-discipline is needed, it must be kept to the minimum and must not be used as a mean of punishing or controlling children. You should also defend yourself from accusations of abusing children by keeping up to date with guidance, recording the incident and, if possible, ensuring that another adult is present.
The criminal code also states that “any force used against another person without his or her consent is considered assault”. When spanking a child, their consent is not asked for, therefore meaning that spanking a child is a form of assault. Children also are not fully mature and cannot decide when correctional force crosses the line becoming assault. We need to protect our young not discriminate against them. Section 43 is not justifiable under section 1 of the Charter.
The participant is required to move the blocks, one at a time, from the left hand lid of the box to the right hand side of the box which contains 54 holes. Each block has a correct hole. There are two trials, each with a different pattern of colours. Participants were asked to use their preferred hand to complete the tasks as quickly and accurately as possible. The dependent variable was the time taken to complete the two trials.
