Child Care Site Program Inquiry At LC Academy the staff is very committed to promote the growth of children. Their policy and philosophy is very simple. Their philosophy is to provide a stimulating atmosphere in which infants and toddlers, and school-age children can grow and mature in many areas including emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually while in a safe environment. This environment will not only be safe, it will allow children’s curiosity to direct their learning, promote respect for things and people, and help the teacher guide the children. They encourage parents to come throughout the year to come to their mini gatherings. They don’t hold many special events but during the summer they offer field trips, theatrical events and such. The children like to engage in educational activities throughout the summer and they do encourage the parents to stop in and visit and occasionally to be an audience or guest judges for the children. Communication is a very important aspect at their center. They like to inform the parents of things going on at the center, and in the government that concern the center. Having relationships with the families is important and they have very close ties with them. The philosophy the center runs by is the idea that a child’s education is one of the most important, if not the most important, aspects of his or her life. With this in mind, teachers are very influential characters. Therefore it is essential that teachers develop their educational philosophy and their educational goals before making the big step from being a student to being a teacher. They encourage and welcome anyone of any race to attend their daycare. The majority of their daycare students and children are Hmong and African-American. They don’t want to be seen as a daycare who solely chooses their children based on skin and they would love to overcome that barrier by getting children of different decent and races into their center. They would definitely love to get their YoungStar rating higher. They need to work on their lesson plans for the younger toddlers who attend their center in the morning to the afternoon. Other than that, they can only hope to better their environment and do whatever they can to help the children learn and grow at their center.
