Week one: I, Chicken Little, was flabbergasted by the sight of millions of other chickens that look identical to me in this small place we’re now supposed to call our home. I hear the faint call of my name from my family from hundreds of chickens over. Will I ever see them again? Week two: A rumor goes around that the way of production around here is broiler production. My mom tells me that broiler production is the production of biscuits that we get to eat, but I secretly think she is lying to me so I won’t worry. I only think this because other chickens on our farm have been running around screaming their heads off, and I for one know that if I was getting a biscuit I would be happy. Week three: Chickens are going psycho on the farm now! Apparently chickens have been hearing that we are an agribusiness farm and that we’re too small to use so we need to be fattened up. I’m only three weeks old and I way twice as much as the average chicken my age. What is this sorcery? My stomach is like a big round sphere and has tiny stubs for legs. I guess I’m not so little now. Week four: We’ve been situated in the feedlots since last week. My mom says that I’m going to get really big really quick. We are not being farmed anymore but being modified. Week five: My mom and dad have been to referring to some strange people as processors because they are going to make us meals to themselves. I’m really terrified that I won’t get to see my parents ever again, or I won’t get to see any of my friends ever again. We are back on the farm again to help fertilize the soil. I don’t know how us chickens can do such a thing but the farmers say they want our manure, which is our poop I think, before we go so they can get something useful out of us.
