Hong Kong's development into a commercial centre began with British settlement in 1841. In these years, due to the influence of western culture and the integration of Chinese and Western culture, there are many different cultures exist in Hong Kong. For example, cha chaan tang and some architectures etc. Although people nowadays are more aware of preserving these culture, their effort put on preserving these culture is not enough. Some people even do not know that some festivals, customs are some important intangible cultural heritage towards Hong Kong. Thus, I am interested in having a report that introduce these intangible cultural heritage to other people so that they can learn more about these intangible cultural heritages in Hong Kong. Among all these intangible cultural heritages, I finally chose Cheung Chau Bun Festival as my research topic as I believe there are very limited people recognized it as a cultural heritage in Hong Kong. Most of the people nowadays misinterpret the meaning of Cheung Chau Bun Festival as a carnival held in Cheung Chau every year. Different kinds of souvenirs were sold and different activities like parade were held during the festival. People nowadays have forgotten or even do not know the meaning behind holding this festival. They also do not know the history of Cheung Chau Bun Festival and the importance of the festival towards Hong Kong. Therefore, most of them even do not recognize it as a traditional festival that should be preserved by us nowadays.
