Reaction to MFA Exhibition
Artwork - Spring: Cherry Blossoms (Acrylic and oil)
Artist - Esther Marie Chagaris

One of the artwork that stood out the most to me was a piece created by Esther Marie Chagaris, (Spring:Cherry Blossoms.) This specific work was located further back behind a wall with many other similar work just like hers. In addition, this artwork is made of Acrylic and oil which means it becomes permanent and do not age with color as do oils but, being water-soluble, they are fast drying like watercolors and require no harsh solvents for cleaning. The painting (Spring:Cherry Blossoms) is made up of a two-dimensional artwork because the work itself is a painting done on a flat surface. Moreover, being acrylic and oil it has its own broad range of multiple and composition of colors. For instance, the artwork reveals light and dark colors which are white, purple, blue, yellow, pink, and in contrast has that medium to high color. What intrigued me to this piece of art was how its beautifully conveyed by the artist. The following will reveal the reasons why. The viewers eyes can depict right away that its colorful, joyful, attractive and has that sense of spring like flowers, which in fact is the nature of the work. The movement of the individual eyes right away starts from the top and slowly focuses in the center and right at the bottom. This is because the artist starts with a medium light color at the very top, developing into light, bright color in the center and ends with a darker color. By then, your eyes start to rotate in a 360 degree angle specifically looking at things that makes this art the way it is. From the thin branches, through the leaves, and or flowers blossoming.
