Gabriel Silverio December 6, 2012 The Ups and Downs of Phineas In this excellent story A Separate Peace written by John Knowles one of the main characters, Phineas is a very well rounded young man and I feel strongly connected to him. I see myself being very similar to Finny in multiple ways. The first way I am similar to Finny is that me and him share an extreme athletic ability and love sports. The second reason is that Finny and I have very similar personalities and attitudes. The last reason is that I can relate to Finny in ways such as his injury.

Michael even enter act with audience which was a plus for me. He made the audience feel comfortable. Most comedians don’t even attempt to do that. Michael jokes were funny and made the audience laugh. His joke were relatable you could actually visualize everything he was saying.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved both my parents very much and was especially close to my father, when he was sober. My sister and I loved the times when we would wake to see our parents with their hands shaking because we knew that meant they were dry. I remember how guilty they would feel when they became sober. My father would hug me as though he did not want to let me go; his several day old beard would scratch my face. I remember feeling like it was Christmas morning, in fact, many a Christmas I wished, not for toys, but for mom and dad to stop drinking.

He had a hard time keeping his head above water. The second stanza starts off with “Poor chap, he always loved larking.” Chap might relate to a British origin and to lark means to frolic, or a harmless prank.
