Of course, not every Costco shopper is an entrepreneur, but this customer base has remained the focus of the Costco marketing effort. Even the Costco members’ magazine includes many articles offering small business advice. 2) Deliver bigger value, not just lower prices: Costco doesn’t just offer low prices, it offers exceptional bargains on elegant, sophisticated products that people really want to buy. Hale explains Dollard and Millers theory on how serial killers are just like any other individual who is in need of seeking the approval, love, and acceptance of others (41). Being given these things is a 'reward', however in the case of the killers these rewards are very scarce and thus they do not often feel accepted as one would like to, causing frustration. Frustration is described as what "occurs when a motivated individual encounters some barrier that prevents the person from reaching a desired goal" by Hale (41). Though this could probably only be achieved with government intervention, the possibilities are endless. Of course a big downside to this idea is the fact that we work hard for our money. It can seem like a waste to give it away after we work long and hard to obtain it. Another con is that after living with an excess of everything for so long, the people who are most prosperous might not be as willing to give it up.
Donovan also states that using cocaine is getting expensive, but he feels that he works hard for the money and this is the only vice he has. Donovan says him using the cocaine has not caused any other problems, so he feels it is not a big deal. Well yes, for the most part they are, but they aren’t a waste. At least my dealer doesn’t rip me off though, that would make me lose even more money. Drugs have made me very responsible, believe it or not. My mom is having a lot of financial problems right now. In that case, to help her out, I got a job so that I didn’t have to keep lying to her to get money out of her or steal more money from her purse.
