MAN 4151: Organizational Behavior | Lois Quam-Founder, Tysvar, LLC | Chapter 3: Emotions, Attitudes, and Job Satisfaction | | Case 3: Lois Quam As studied in class, Chapter 3 of Organizational Behavior talks about how emotions, attitudes and job satisfaction influence individuals’ behavior in their personal and professional lives. An important concept that we all need to understand is Emotional Intelligence. It is basically the ability to understand not only our but also other people’s emotions and manage relationships effectively. Emotional Intelligence (IB) is an essential component that managers and leaders need to acquire in order to perform better while interacting with people. We learned the difference between emotions and attitudes and how job satisfaction can influence work behavior in a positive or negative way and how it relates to job performance. Analyzing Case 3, will help me understand better all those concepts and most in important how they can be applied in real world scenarios. The Case I chose talks about the career of Lois Quam, founder and former CEO of Tysavar, a company that works to facilitate and build the New Green Economy (NGE). I will examine how her attitudes, qualities, and emotions played a fundamental role in her career and helped her become an influential woman. Recently, Lois was selected by president Obama to head the Global Health Initiative, a project that will help developing countries improve their health care system. The study of the case will be divided in four questions that will cover: * How Lois’s emotion and attitudes allow her to convey her viewpoints. * Create hypothesis about the attitude of her colleagues in an attempt to explain the components of an attitude. * Reasons why Lois was chosen by the president to led the project. * Conduct research to understand how Tysavar’s goal influences
