CHANGING TIMES OR CHANGING PEOPLE ? Times are changing. People and perspectives on life are also changing. As time progresses, different generations occur and each generation has its own mentality and way of life. Every generation will share the collective unconscious which determines that generation’s perception of life, the language spoken and how to struggle with life. From past to present, each subsequent generation is getting more advanced. Likewise, variations among generations come into existence and even conflicts of generations occur. To be more precise, there are two main differences between today’s generation and their parent’s generation. One of the most important differences between them is culture/traditions. Firstly, the concept of people’s lifestyle brings about the significant changes in terms of culture. Nowadays, we have more modern life according to changing conditions. Everything from our houses which we live in to our dress code shows an alteration. For example, in the 80’s, most people were wearing jeans washed with acid and a leather jacket. Also, having permed hair was the trend of those days .Today, more streamlined styles begin to be popular among people. Secondly, transition from extended family to the nuclear family leads to disparity of life. In the past, all relatives lived together in their hometown or their city, so they could come together easily when a significant event happened. For example, when a wedding is planned, all preparations were done together with the family. But now, most people handle this kind of situations on their own. Related with that, the loss of cultural values of the younger generation also shows a difference between today’s generation and older generation. These days, most of the young generation don’t care about culture or traditions as much as their parents did because people’s lifestyles
