Racism is the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. Racism has evolved throughout the years. From the Los Angeles Rodney King beating to the slaying of Michael Brown in St. Louis, law enforcement officials continue making racism an issue within the world. People don’t always understand what the officer faces, though. Police Officers must make quick determinations of wrong doing in most situations.
Even though all of these strains have an influence on the racial differences in crime, I believe that the community contributes a lot to these differences. By observing at a community, one can derive that a community branches out to numerous types of strain. And this in the United States is "Created by White prejudice, Actualized by discriminatory behavior and Condoned, if not supported, by government." Today both, in the US and in Europe as well, overt racism is replaced by “politically correct behavior” and the reality of social relations has been rarified. This has made the evil of racism omnipresent, omnipotent but still invisible. It is to the credit of White societies, that, this art is not only universalized but its social reproduction is also ensured.
Law Enforcement is making arrest every minute from different ethnic groups. Law enforcement officer’s relationship with different ethnic groups has been a rocky road for a very long time because of cultural differences and social differences. Sometimes the lines of communication seem to be strained between officers and minorities. Many minorities feel as though the officers patrol their communities with an iron fist instead of with compassion or equality. The police today must contend directly with a number of issues that carry a racial subtext both in fact and in perception: crime, drugs, disorder, civil unrest, and police brutality.
If the only reason to pull someone over depends on his or her race, this causes a discriminatory impact. The separating of black and white has caused many problems in society and these inequalities are still felt today. Rebellion, revolution, boycotting and even riots, have led to tensions between the two races. Additionally, desegregating schools led to a learning gap between black and white students. The Constitution states that no state can make the law that takes away the rights and privileges of citizens making them immune to it. Desegregation of public places should be allowed because it is inequitable to separate humans based on the color or pigmentation of their skin.
Racial Profiling should not be allowed. Racial profiling is a violation of people’s civil rights. Every race commits crimes and if the police are targeting one race. That will give the other races more space to commit more vicious crimes. Racial Profiling is when a single group or race is singled out and watched closely because the police feel that they are more likely to commit crimes.
