Kevin I. Juan October 14, 2011 IAS 101 New Student Orientation Challenges and Benefits of a Christian Community As a Christian, I face many challenges in life. I’m not sure if God puts them in my life or if the Devil is the one attacking me. All I know is that I never stop no matter what happens. When I see myself facing a challenge, I pray and ask God for wisdom, patience, and most important of all, love. I often feel alone in this world, no family, friends, or anyone to talk to. Why? I honestly don’t know why, but I know that when I am alone, God is standing by my side holding my hand to keep me in the right path. “I will sow them among the people: and they shall remember me in far countries” (Zech. 10:9). This verse is talking about how God takes a group of people with leadership and place each one of them in different places, so they can save souls. Souls like mine, I was rescued when I was 12 years old and I will never regret stepping to the front of the church to change my life. Since that day, my life has been different, even though I still have problems; I know God is there to help me and I also know he will never leave my side. In Christianity there are also benefits. Many benefits that non-Christians think they have, but they don’t. For example, God will always be by your side no matter what. He will protect us and keep us safe from any wrong that anyone wishes us. We also have forgiveness and that is something that us humans need to learn how to give, not only receive. “The Kingdom is to be in the midst of your enemies. And he who will not suffer this does not want to be among friends, to sit among roses and lilies, not with the bad people but the devout people. O you blasphemers and betrayers of Christ! If Christ had done what you are doing who would ever have been spared?” (Luther). This passage in the bible talks about how God
