Often massive amounts of people migrate to the united states from different parts of the world.At risk their lifes,their safety,and everything that surrounds them.These challenges are minimal when in their rminds they have the american dream.People come to the united states everyday for numerous reasons, but most important seeking a better life.The citizens of the united states have the freedom and the quality of life that many wish they could have.Freedom to worship,freedom from opression, and simply freedom itself.In many countries poverty and job and scarce forcing people to flee and families to separate.Although immigrants deal with difficult challenges their reward could be priceless. Although immigrants face challenging obstacles there is minimum struggles they have to deal with.In the short story “Names/Nombres” by Julia Alvarez shares some of her early expieriences when she first arrived at NYC.Just passing immigration and for the resting years Julia and her family had to put up with constant mispronounciations.Their names were changed and translated by american people.Not blending in an americanized society cause Julia to feel embarrassement and shame in her heritage.With time and after adjusting to her new surroundings she learned to be appreciative and prideful of her
