Cerebral Palsy By: Dina Johnson CP is short for Cerebral palsy, Cerebral palsy fall under two groups which are non-progressive, non-contagious motor conditions that cause mental and physical disability in human’s development, it is mainly in the various areas of body movements. When using the word Cerebral it refers to the Cerebrum, which means some part of the brain being affected. When having this disease most likely it involves connections between the cortex and other parts of the brain such as the cerebellum and disorder of movement. The cause of Cerebral palsy by damage to the motor control center of the developing brain and can occur during pregnancy, childbirth or after birth up to the age of three. This disease will limits the movements and posture cause activity limitation and are often accompanied by disturbances of sensation, depth perception and other sight-based perceptual problems, communication ability. It was also found that impairments in cognition and epilepsy are found in about one-third of cerebral palsy patients. Also no matter what type is often accompanied by secondary musculoskeletal problems that arise as a result of the underlying etiology. With great improvements in neonatology medical treatment of newborn babies have a greater chance of not developing cerebral palsy and increased the survival of babies with low birth weights, which was the one that was most likely to have cerebral palsy. Full-term infants of cerebral palsy are usually prenatal and not related to events at the time of delivery. The risk-factors for CP is premature babies, the premature brain is at a high-risk of bleeding. Babes that are born early can also develop and poorly developed lungs and when this happen it cause poor delivered of oxygen to the brain, which will lead into CP.
