Cell phone usage and the effects on relationships i.e., family, friends and significant others. In today’s age of technology we no longer are attached to our computers or laptops like back in the early 2000’s. Now we are attached at the hip more than ever and no not in the sense of walking together or even in the sense of having a small beeper to tell when to call home but now it’s the smart phone. We can do big things with this small device that we never imagined. Order pizza; buy coffee, stay on top of all our social media sites i.e. facebook, twitter and instagram. But most importantly we can stay in touch with our loved ones. The question is how in touch are we really. Instead of a five minute phone call we rather text our love ones. Instead of you sharing a photo album with a friend at your home, you now send them digital pictures that can be erased with the blink of an eye. Instead taking an hour drive to see Grand Ma and Grand Pa, we rather Skype. In a few years everyone will be holograming each other and the human touch will be obsolete. Well maybe not but it’s a thought. Everywhere you go, all you see is someone either talking, texting, updating a post or sharing a photo on their cell phones. You see people at dinner surfing the internet, playing games and of course updating their social media sites instead of paying attention to the person or people they are with at the time. You see people in the club standing around with a drink in one hand and there phone in the other. Like what’s the point of being there instead of just enjoying the moment you are on your phone texting or updating twitter about the moment. Cell phones and the way we use them is also affecting the way we talk. When it comes to texting we usually type certain things in short hand like smh, lol, tmi, and etc. These terms are actually spilling over into our everyday conversations
