Role models are an extremely important part of a person’s life. Many times people will alter their behaviors to be more like their role model. If asked to name their role models, most people would list off parents, siblings, teachers, friends, and celebrities. Pretty much everyone has at least one celebrity role model, even though that isn’t always the best thing. Famous people are such popular role models because they are so visible to the public, so anything they do has the potential to change someones actions. When making the argument of whether or not celebrities make good role models, I think that one really needs to take into account what celebrity is being considered. For example, I would say that Benedict Cumberbatch is a great luminary to respect, while someone like Robin Thicke would not. The same could be said when choosing any kind of role model, one really needs to think about what traits they would like to see in a person they look up to. I eulogize people who are kind, intelligent, and overall good people; so it makes sense that my celebrity role models are people like Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston. Celebrities are often put under fire for their actions because people claim they are being bad role models. An example from quite recently would be Miley Cyrus’s new music video. She is getting a great amount of resentment about that because people are saying that the things she was including in said video were inappropriate and that she was setting a bad example. Well I think that all that trash talk was pretty unjustified. Yes, parts of her video could be counted as inappropriate, but that doesn’t mean that that is going to make every single one of her fans act like that. Just because something is seen, it doesn’t that action has to be taken upon what is being seen. Like I said before, it all depends on what one is looking for
