Causes and effects of divorce Nelly Neal English 100 October 15, 2010 Causes and effects of divorce Introduction Divorce is an extremely painful experience, but the number of couples opting for divorce has been on the rise over the last few years. Most people get married when they are too young without really getting to know each other; instead, they maintain unrealistic dreams of romantic longevity. In reality, their marriages do not usually have wonderful endings. Numerous factors may cause family breakups that lead to divorce; these factors include the lack of communication, financial problems, verbal and psychological abuse, or domestic violence. First cause Married couples lack good communication skills when they are too busy to make time for each other. Due to financial obligations, couples may be forced apart through working long hours. Their work schedules are often different and they may not have enough time to communicate due to balancing work priorities, children responsibilities, and household chores. Although they may think they are building a good life together, they do not realize that spending less time with each other breaks down their communication and does not allow the exchange of ideas and feelings. Therefore, time has to be set aside for married couples to communicate with one another. Daily activities should be scheduled in such a way that the couples have ample time to spend with each other to communicate about issues and problems, which may be of concern to them. Being silent when problems arise is not the correct way to resolve them. Small problems that could be resolved early on often grow into larger issues that may lead to divorce if not confronted.
