Instead of learning some actual useful information, teachers fret over the test rather than about how much that student is actually absorbing into their head. It has become a practice to ‘teach the test’ in today’s teaching world. Tests like SAT, ACT and AP have you pay quite a bit and don’t even show you what you did wrong, blocking out the possibility of even trying to learn from your mistakes. It is believed to be a clever tactic used to gain more profit, students keep coming back to prove they are worth more with those silly numbers. They stress day and night over these overrated tests, like previously stated channeling out the imagination, curiosity and good will.
Many teachers do not like “catching plagiarists and bringing them to academic justice.” As she states, it is not hard to just cite the author that originally had the information you are using (Bojar). Plagiarism is becoming a big problem in the school system. Many students do not understand what needs to be cited and what does not. The school system should teach students the proper way to cite, and they should teach them that copy and pasting is not writing a paper. According Bojar to students at the community college have a hard time juggling classes along with his or her family and a job.
Studies show that students who are over-age for their class was held back a grade level. Not completing assignments, late work, or just missing class led up to being held back a grade. Over-age students seem to need more help in the classroom, than the regular students. Adolescents pick many excuses to drop out of school. Schools cannot beat the entertainment industry at its own game. What they have to offer students is the chance for intellectual freedom, the power to think for themselves…(Ravitch 163). In school, students are always taught to have an open-mind, how can they have an open-mind when they are being censored? Schools only offer boring, bland topics and cause students to lose interest. Students are so highly influenced by the media that if they aren’t hearing about violence, death, sex or lies, then they have the “don’t care” mentality.
Also, if they cheat on a test by asking a friend and the friend gets caught, the friend will get in trouble for their actions and they might have ruined their friend’s future. Also, when a person decides to cheat and is able to get away with it, they believe cheating is the only way to do well. It is a quick way to get work done in school, which causes it to become an awful habit. That person will probably stop studying, and do whatever they want on their free time, because they know they will get by on cheating. If that person chooses to lie about their abilities, they may be held accountable for fraud and/or theft.
Like a normal human being the student started to panic. So at the end of class he politely asked for extra credit, and the teacher in return said, no. Although in college you don’t receive extra credit he deserves some extra credit to make up for the mistakes the teacher had made. Another reason why teachers should acquire failing students with extra credit is that perhaps the students may of missed many days of school prior to being sick or injured. However, if your a student that misses a day of school, you should get the make up work and you should catch up to the rest of the class on your own.
One reason for this is that they are worried about their future, status quo and financial success. The majority of student are desperate enough to fit and blend into society which lead them to no longer attending classes they are interested in. The devoid of passion leads to end of striving for genius, leading to many uncurious and uneducated individuals. Since the student are trying to become the ideal persons, with successful careers, they are afraid to think out of the box and become genius. He writes about the lack of passion to point out that there will no longer be any genius in the near future.
More so, it is being done internally by teachers (Falk, 616). The stakes are so high they manipulate test results by keeping certain students out of the testing environment. It has been reported that kids were purposely held back so that their performance will not bring down the test scores that the more intelligent students submit. I agree with that Lindsay Jillson argues about how standardized testing has jeopardized a student’s future because of the sanctions that are given to them for being less intelligent. I just do not understand why the main focus of our education has to be all about test.
He believed that people were ignorant and shouldn’t be allowed to rule themselves. For, without the proper knowledge, people make poor choices all the time. Look at Freedom. A good school in general, but in it students demonstrate poor decision making every day. Students get it fights, take drugs, drink alcohol, skip classes and do things that just don’t make sense.

It seems clear that Prose does not want to hide her personal view or feelings, so she starts her essay out in a way that we do not have to read between the lines to get a sense of how she feels about what she is writing. She uses more emotional language when she says, "The intense loyalty adults harbor for books first encountered in youth is one probable reason for the otherwise baffling longevity of vintage mediocre novels, books that teachers may themselves have read in adolescence"(Prose
