I learned that there is a shocking number of children that are homeless and do not have an income or even food as a guarantee and this is right here in America. I consider this information reliable but not to the extent of my first because there are some strong opinions on this topic which makes it harder for this one topic to be seen as 100% reliable on a factual standpoint. I believe the goal of this source is to inform its reader of the more unusual facts about homelessness and show the true statistics and make people realize it isn’t as uncommon as people may think it is. The causes of these issues can be determined using critical thinking. If you are poor, you are essentially an illness, an accident, or a paycheck away from living on the streets. First, A lack of affordable housing and the limited scale of housing assistance programs have contributed to the current housing crisis and to the homelessness. Housing assistance can make the difference between stable housing, precarious housing, or no housing at all.

Financial problems such as: job loss, not making enough money and not being to afford rent/mortgage is related to the homelessness in Pinellas County (PIT, 2011). According to Chamard (2010) persons who are homeless involves themselves in criminal activity for survival such as stealing, panhandling and peddling. The criminal activity stems from the homeless person basic needs not being met such as: shelter, food and clothes (Charmard, 2010).
